Heat Stress in Livestock and Poultry

Australian farmers are heat stress specialists

Australia is one of the hottest and driest countries on earth. With about 65% of its land mass desert, and another 20% tropical. It has emerged as one of the most efficient livestock producers in the world. Australian farmers battle daily with extremes of temperature.

It's not surprising that an Australian company moulded by the rigours of the harsh Australian environment, should develop a range of animal health products capable of improving production
under adverse rearing conditions.

Lost production and reduced costs

Heat stress is a major cause of lost production and reduced profits in tropical and sub tropical areas.

Virtually all birds and most commercial livestock, farmed in hot and humid countries, are genetically derived from strains originally bred in the cool climates of Europe and North America.

Because most farmers living in hot and humid climates have not experienced poultry or livestock production levels in cool climates, they do not realize how much improvement in productivity is possible.

Nor do they realise that all birds and animals have a zone of comfort where they are most comfortable and productive.

Do you farm in an area with constant heat stress?

Discover if you live in an area subject to heat stress.

Even farmers in cool or cold climates often adjust their shed orbarn temperatures for their own comfort, not realizing the microclimate of the birds or livestock they are growing is altered. They are inadvertently creating a heat stress situation.
